Nozbe vs xmind6/6/2023 Unfortunately the newer 12 version limits the number of parent nodes you can see at once unless you switch to mind map mode. TheBrain 12 lets you relate information and it supports multiple parent nodes for a child node. It's like a combination between a mind map and Obsidian or Roam. ![]() It looks like a mind map but it's a lot more. You might also try the free Beta version of TheBrain 12. But the non-mobile Transno version lacks some Xmind features which sometimes I may or may not need. On mobile it's a lot easier to move nodes around than it is on Xmind. It easily switches between a good mind map and a good outline. From my experience, someone may not initially find a mind map that useful until they try different workflows and discover how the tool can be useful to them sometimes. You have a good use case where a mind map helps you visualize projects, goals and other things. Other people use mind maps for different things but I may use it for initially capturing lots of fuzzy thoughts that don't yet have logical meanings yet. However, I'm now about to export what I created into something else because better tools exist for what I need to do with the information. And more importantly for me, it lets me group and regroup things as I see relationships forming. We can do that in an outline but an outline only displays information in one direction: vertically.Ī mind map lets us visualize more information along the x horizontal axis and the Y vertical axis. A mind map, especially one like Xmind, lets us isolate a topic by collapsing things. That's harder to do in regular text and also when using an outline. If, for example I wanted to move the word " export" to another topic, I could drag it (after splitting the node) to that other topic and begin exploring it. This allows us to simply input things without even knowing what we're initially thinking about. My big use is having the ability to type anything anywhere and shift things around via drag and drop. ![]() Like you I sometimes \ need to see everything at once. I'm using one now (Xmind) but for different purposes. This is a productivity subreddit - we know you can find a way to do it yourself! This is not the correct place to be fundraising.
